After having waited and been alone on the scattered and ever deteriorating 6th floor Reiss for almost two years, the Tong Lab has finally moved to the single lab space on the 4th floor WGR that was reconfigured from the old genchem lab. It just feels good by simply being in a better lab space. With Melissa coordinating and everyone contributing well, the move went smoothly and hassle-free despite that Dr. Tong was away for a conference in Orlando, FL honoring Wieckowski's retirement. The Lab is now gearing up for better scientific productivity in the summer and future.
On the other hand, the Lab was sad seeing off Melissa and Yuan who have decided to pursue careers other than a PhD in chemistry. Melissa is being enrolled in forensic MS program at Virginia Commonwealth University while Yuan in computer science MS program at University of Chicago. The Tong Lab wish them the best of luck in their respective new endeavors.
Some catching up news: Dr. Eric Sorte joined the Lab in March 2014, bringing onboard his vast expertise in NMR, Physics, and machining. It is expected that in situ electrochemical NMR will see decent progress in the near future.
